Methyl silicone fluid is one of the earliest, most widely used and most commonly used silicone polymers commercialized. There are two main production methods for methyl silicone oil: acid balance method and alkali balance method. The acid balance method is suitable for producing low-viscosity silicone oil with a viscosity of less than 500 mm2/s. This method generally uses concentrated sulfuric acid as a catalyst, reacts at 50~60°C, and then washes with water to remove the acid, removes low boiling matter, adds activated carbon for decolorization, and transitions to the finished product. ;The alkali balance law is suitable for producing medium and high viscosity silicone oil with a viscosity above 100mm2/s.

When producing methyl silicone oil, each component in the raw material DMC (dimethyl mixed ring) will reach the optimal activation state at different temperatures and undergo ring-opening polymerization respectively, thereby increasing the conversion rate and thus greatly improving production efficiency. .

After the ring-opening polymerization reaction is completed, the catalyst (CH3)4NOH is difficult to fully decompose during the media destruction process; and a small amount of decomposed ammonia is miscible in the system, causing the silicone oil to have an odor. The system is cooled to below 140°C after dehydration, and bubbling with dry air is used to increase the gas phase pressure of the system, thereby achieving the purpose of discharging pungent odors.

By using the programmed temperature control method between 90 and 120°C and then cooling it to 140°C and bubbling dry air, a colorless, odorless methyl silicone oil with qualified indicators can be obtained. The average conversion rate is increased from 65%. to more than 80%. This kind of silicone oil that meets all indicators is suitable for use. Of course, colorless and odorless are also a reference standard for everyone to judge whether silicone oil is qualified.
