What is the difference between liquid silica gel and solid silica gel?

Hits: 520 img

What we usually call silica gel has two physical states, one is a flowing liquid and the other is a solid. Non-solid silica gel that can flow like water is called liquid silica gel; of course, liquid silica gel has a certain viscosity and is usually denser than water, so its fluidity is not as strong as water.

Liquid silica gel will undergo a curing reaction when it encounters a curing agent or catalyst. Depending on the type of liquid silica gel, it will solidify into solid silica gel with different hardness and different properties.

Liquid silicone can be divided into: based on different properties and uses:

1. Mold silicone
Mold liquid silicone is a new type of molding material. Silicone molds made with mold silicone have huge advantages in production efficiency and production cost compared to steel molds. Today, mold silicone has been widely used in mold production in various industries such as the toy and gift industry, medical, electronic, mechanical fields, character reproduction, home building decoration and decoration industry, unsaturated resin handicraft industry, simulated animal and plant sculptures, Buddha carving handicrafts and other industries.

2. Pad printing silicone
Pad printing liquid silicone is used to make pad printing rubber heads, mainly used for printing plastic toys, electroplating products, electronic toys, trademarks, and irregular patterns. The pad printing rubber head is to use the pattern on the steel plate as a carrier through the rubber head, and then transfer the pattern on the steel plate to the toy product. The hardness of pad printing liquid silicone can be controlled by adding silicone oil.

3. Electronic potting silicone
Electronic potting liquid silicone is mainly used for potting electronic products. Electronic potting liquid silicone can be used to seal, waterproof, dustproof, thermally conductive, shockproof, and insulating electronic products. In addition, one is a potting glue for LED, which has the characteristics of high transparency and high refractive index.

4. Prototype silicone
Prototype liquid silicone is also called the first edition silica gel, which is usually used to make prototype models. Compared with the prototyping clay prototype liquid silicone, it has the characteristics of wear resistance and strong resilience after curing.

5. Silicone glue
Silicone glue is what we usually call glass glue, and it is also a type of liquid silicone. Silicone glue adds curing agent randomly during use. When it encounters water molecules in the air, it can solidify into a tough solid, thereby achieving adhesion between glass gaps. Cured silicone glue has the characteristics of weather resistance, vibration resistance, moisture resistance, odor resistance, and adaptability to large changes in cold and heat.

6. Clothing label silicone support
After the liquid silicone clothing label is cured, it is the silicone label we often see from clothing manufacturers. Using liquid silicone to make clothing labels has the characteristics of good feel, wear resistance, and high production efficiency.

7. High temperature silicone
Ordinary high-temperature mold silicone used to make silicone molds can withstand high temperatures between 200 and 300 degrees Celsius, while high-temperature liquid silicone used in aviation and hot stamping industries can work for a long time in environments ranging from 400 to 1300 degrees Celsius after curing. Performance changes occur.

8. Human body silicone
Human body silicone is a kind of liquid silicone with low curing hardness. It is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and has no adverse effects on human body. Therefore, it can be implanted inside the human body and is usually used to make prostheses. It can also be used for simulated characters, etc.
