How to foam and mold liquid silicone. The liquid silicone formed in this way is called foamed silicone. Foamed silicone is divided into open cells and closed cells. The open cells are mainly used for filling materials, and the closed cells are mainly used for potting and sealing.
Foamed silicone mainly achieves the foaming effect by expanding through chemical reactions. The expansion ratio is usually divided into 3 times and 6 times. This note can be simply understood as 100 ml of foamed silicone liquid, which becomes 300 ml or 600 ml through expansion. Milliliters, volume increases.
The surface effect of foamed silicone is also similar to that of sponge type, and the softness is not as low as sponge; but it is different from sponge. Sponge will absorb water, while foamed silicone will not absorb water. Foamed silicone is usually used for filling. Foamed silicone can reduce the weight of the product and provide earthquake resistance.
Foamed silica gel is a two-component liquid silica gel, which is mixed with two components. Component B is a catalyst, which can promote the foamed silica gel to change from liquid to solid. Please note the following when operating foamed silica gel:
1. The ratio of foamed silicone must be 1:1, and an electronic scale must be used. The measuring cup test will be inaccurate if the density is different. If the ratio is too much, the curing of the silicone will be accelerated, and if the ratio is too little, the silicone will not solidify partially.
2. The operation time of foaming silicone is very short, and the operation time is only 3-5 minutes. The operation must be completed within this time period, otherwise the silicone will have reacted and stopped foaming and cannot be used again.
3. Foamed silicone is a food-grade material and should not come into contact with heavy metals such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur. If it comes into contact, the contact surface of the foamed silicone will not solidify and become sticky to the hands.
