Foam silicone rubber is a porous polymer material prepared by foaming silicone rubber.
Foam silicone rubber comes in two types: high-temperature type and room-temperature type. The production process of the former is not environmentally friendly and the permanent compression set is poor; the production process of the latter is environmentally friendly and the permanent compression set is good. The latter has been mostly used as sealing and buffering materials in battery packs of new energy vehicles in recent years.
Foamed silicone rubber is mostly prepared from two-component addition liquid foamed silicone rubber, which can be vulcanized at room temperature (RTV) and is suitable for free foaming, molded foaming and other molding processes. Ordinary flame retardant silicone rubber foam can usually reach the flame retardant test UL94-V0 level, meeting general flame retardant requirements. It shrinks and ruptures when exposed to fire, serving the functions of flame retardant, fire isolation, and insulation.
