For most, "silicone" is still a very unfamiliar name. In many cases, formulators and consumers mistakenly believe that silicones are petrochemicals derived from petroleum. The truth is, however, that silicones are derived from sand. Also known as quartz, sand is made up of two of the most abundant elements on Earth—oxygen and silicon—and is primarily composed of silicon dioxide.

As an environmentally friendly material with excellent performance, silicone has already penetrated all aspects of life unconsciously, from the clothes you wear, to the food you eat, the houses you live in, to the cars you take, high-speed trains, roads you walk, cross-country crossed the bridge...

Life is inseparable from silicones, now and even more in the future!

Organosilicon, also known as silicone or siloxane, is an organosiloxane polymer composed of alternating main chains of silicon and oxygen. Because its structure contains both "organic group" and "inorganic structure", it has both organic and inorganic chemical properties.
As one of the use forms of silicone rubber, silicone rubber foam material not only has the excellent properties of silicone rubber itself, but also has the characteristics of foam materials, and is widely used in automobiles, power electronics, civil and other fields.
As the rail transit industry develops toward high speed, safety, comfort, and environmental protection, higher requirements are placed on polymer materials for rail vehicles. As a key component of the interior of rail vehicles, seat products have a large demand, high technology maturity, and a highly mature industrial chain. Silicone rubber foam material is a porous, low-density, compressible polymer prepared by foaming and vulcanizing at room temperature/high temperature after mixing various silicone oils, fillers, cross-linking, foaming agents, etc. Elastomer material. Compared with polyurethane foam, silicone foam can well meet the requirements of EN45545-2 in terms of flame retardancy. Its foam density is 0.08~0.15g/cm3, and its service life can reach 2~4 times that of polyurethane foam. Foam density and environmental protection are also significantly better than polyurethane foam, so it has greater application prospects in rail transit and high-end automobile industries.
Silicone rubber foam takes into account the high elasticity of silicone rubber and has the sound-absorbing and vibration-damping properties of foam. It is mostly used in materials with relatively high performance requirements such as seats, shock-absorbing pads, gaskets, sound insulation materials, insulating materials, and heat insulation materials.

Seat cushion, backrest

Silicone foam materials can be used as seats and backrests of rail vehicles, which can meet the strict requirements of flame retardancy, and have outstanding features such as long service life, excellent environmental protection performance, and good comfort.

Floor damping pads are the main application of silicone foam in rail transit. They are mainly used between the double-layer floors of subways and high-speed rails to play the role of cushioning and vibration reduction. The method of use is to cut the silicone foam attached with the pressure-sensitive tape into strips of the required specification and size, and then paste them on the floor. Now the domestic market has basically adopted localized products, which are used in existing subway vehicles and high-speed rail vehicles.

New Energy Battery Pack Gasket

Due to its excellent resistance to compression set and hydrophobic properties, silicone foam materials have been widely used as gaskets for new energy buses and car battery packs.

TMT Silicone Foam Products

Silicone rubber foam is widely used because it has the excellent properties of both silicone rubber and foam materials. At present, TMT has the ability to develop and supply products with a density level of 0.10~0.45 g/cm3, and has realized the mass production and manufacturing capacity of low-density silicone foam products with a maximum specification of 1.0m×1.0m. Low-density seat products have also been applied in small batches in rail transit. Vibration-absorbing pads/gaskets have obtained technical approval from some OEMs and new energy vehicle manufacturers. In the future, this product is expected to become another key product of the company. Can be expected.
