For manufacturers producing seals, dampers, molded parts, or medical tubing, the IOTA 3120 methyl phenyl vinyl silicone rubber provides a balanced platform for performance-driven compounds.
This phenyl-containing silicone gum combines the proven advantages of methyl vinyl silicone rubber with enhanced low-temperature flexibility, improved damping behavior, and superior radiation tolerance. Depending on the phenyl content chosen (5–40%), you can optimize your final product for:
– Low-temperature sealing (lower phenyl range)
– Damping and vibration control (medium phenyl range)
– Radiation and ablation resistance (higher phenyl range)
The vinyl groups can be placed on side chains (using D4) for more uniform distribution, or as end-capped structures to increase chain extension during crosslinking. Both approaches improve tensile strength, hardness, and compression set resistance compared to conventional gums.
With a specific gravity of 0.99–1.05, low volatiles (≤2% at 150°C/3h), and 24-month shelf life when stored below 40°C, the IOTA 3120 is ready for reliable, repeatable silicone compounding.
