Fast Curing, High Tear Strength – Liquid Silicone Rubber for Demanding PC Seals
Consistency matters in liquid silicone molding. IOTA LSR 3050 is a platinum-catalyzed, high-transparency LSR that combines rapid thermal curing with robust mechanical properties – ideal for overmolding and sealing applications involving polycarbonate.
The material is supplied as a two-part system (A and B), mixed at a 1:1 weight ratio. Pre-mixed viscosity at 23°C is approximately 350 Pa·s, offering good flow for thin-wall sections. It demonstrates excellent self-adhesion to PC, making it suitable for smartwatch back cover seals, swim goggle cushions, phone case inserts, and card tray gaskets.
Cured parts achieve a Shore A hardness of 50, tensile strength of 10.0 MPa, elongation of 550%, and tear strength of 35 kN/m – providing reliable sealing under repeated compression or flexing. Density is 1.13 g/cm³.
For processors, the material offers good mold release behavior and fast cure response. Note: platinum catalyst is in component A. Avoid contact with amine-, tin-, or sulfur-based substances to prevent inhibition. Always mix A and B from the same batch number. Stir thoroughly before use to redisperse any settled fillers – this ensures consistent viscosity and performance.
Available in 200 kg drums per component. Store below 23°C for up to 12 months. Beyond the labeled shelf life, retest relevant properties before use.
