Reliable High-Power LED Protection – IOTA LEDH 3220 Encapsulant
Designed for SMD LED packaging, the IOTA LEDH 3220 is a high refractive index phenyl-type silicone encapsulant that delivers consistent performance in demanding lighting environments. With a refractive index of 1.54, it helps enhance light extraction efficiency, making it suitable for high-brightness and mid-to-high-power LED applications.
This two-component system features a straightforward 1:5 mixing ratio by weight, with A-component viscosity at 4,500 mPa·s and B-component at 6,000 mPa·s (25°C). The mixed viscosity of 6,000 mPa·s supports smooth dispensing and bubble release during processing. Curing follows a practical schedule: 1 hour at 100°C followed by 3 hours at 150°C, resulting in a robust thermoset network.
The cured material exhibits a Shore D hardness of 52D, a tensile strength of 8 MPa, and an elongation of 40%, balancing rigidity with flexibility to reduce stress on delicate LED chips and wire bonds. Optical clarity is a key feature, with a transmittance of 92%, ensuring minimal light loss through the encapsulant layer.
For long-term reliability, the IOTA LEDH 3220 offers good sulfur resistance and thermal stability, which are essential to prevent electrode corrosion and browning in high-temperature, high-humidity operating environments. Its moisture vapor transmission rate is 5.70 g/m²·24h, and oxygen transmission rate is 270 cm³/m²·24h. The linear expansion coefficient is 170 ppm, supporting dimensional stability across thermal cycles.
Whether used in outdoor lighting, automotive indicators, or display backlighting, the IOTA LEDH 3220 provides a balanced encapsulation solution for stable LED performance.
