Three Hardnesses, One Superior Solution – IOTA FHTV 3502 for Low-Compression, High-Return Sealing
When your application demands a fluorosilicone that bonds, flexes, and seals under pressure, the IOTA FHTV 3502 series delivers consistency across three distinct hardness grades. Whether you need the softer flexibility of FHTV3552 (52 Shore A), the balanced mid-range of FHTV3562 (61 Shore A), or the firmer grip of FHTV3572 (69 Shore A), this adhesive fluorosilicone compound offers a tailored mechanical profile – all while maintaining exceptional resistance to fuels, solvents, and thermal cycling.
What makes this series truly standout is its compression set performance. After 22 hours at 177°C, values range from only 7% to 10% – a critical metric for static and dynamic seals that must retain preload over years of service. Combined with rebound resilience of 31–35%, the material recovers quickly from deformation, reducing permanent set and prolonging component life. This balance of softness and memory is rare in oil-resistant rubbers, yet IOTA achieves it without compromising tensile strength (9.0–9.4 MPa) or tear resistance (16–18 KN/m).
For engineers designing bonded assemblies – such as metal-inserted seals, flanged gaskets, or aramid-reinforced diaphragms – the IOTA FHTV 3502 series eliminates the need for separate adhesives or mechanical crimps. A simple primer coat activates the surface, and the compound vulcanizes directly onto the substrate during molding. The result is a homogeneous, stress-free interface that withstands thermal expansion mismatch and vibration better than post-bonded alternatives.
Processing parameters are practical and reproducible: cure with 0.5 parts of Double 25 peroxide at 170°C for 15 minutes (primary), followed by a 200°C × 4-hour post-cure to optimize physical properties. Note that for continuous exposure above 200°C, we recommend adding a heat-stabilizer additive – a small step that unlocks even greater thermal endurance. Supplied in 20 kg cartons with a 12-month shelf life under dry conditions, this series is ideal for valve seals, fuel system components, and aerospace connectors.
