Self‑Bonding Liquid Silicone for Airbag Coating – IOTA M1740
IOTA M1740 A/B is a two‑component liquid silicone rubber developed specifically for coating nylon 66 fabrics. Its most outstanding feature is excellent self‑adhesion to nylon 66, eliminating the need for additional primers or surface treatments. This makes it a reliable choice for automotive airbag manufacturing, architectural textiles, protective clothing coatings, and even 3C product sealing.
The system offers low viscosity, which allows easy pumping and automatic material feeding in production lines. It cures rapidly upon heat exposure. At 160 °C, the T90 is less than 25 seconds, supporting high‑efficiency continuous processes. Once mixed, the material maintains a long operating time, giving users flexibility during application.
Cured IOTA M1740 delivers balanced mechanical performance. According to standard testing methods, it reaches a tensile strength of 5.0 MPa, elongation of 350 %, and tear strength of 10 kN/m. Hardness is measured at 35 (DIN ISO 48‑4), and density at 23 °C is 1.07 g/cm³. The finished coating presents a light yellow, even appearance.
The product is supplied with A and B components in 200 kg drums. The recommended mix ratio by weight is 1:1. For storage, keep below 23 °C in unopened containers; shelf life is 12 months. If stored longer, performance verification is advised.
IOTA M1740 combines strong nylon‑66 adhesion, fast curing, and easy handling – a practical coating solution for demanding textile applications.
